Insomnia Exhibition Recap @ 154 Smart Clothes Gallery

154 Smart Clothes is a gallery space located inside a beautiful old store front that used to house Louis Zuflacht Furniture on the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.  If you stop by now until the 20th of August, you can see a photography exhibit filled with bright colors, bold images and some naked ladies with dead animals.  The show, called Insomnia, features the work of photographers Peter Ruprecht and Reka Nyari and mostly focuses on images from the famous Burning Man Fesitval including some beautiful desert scenes and even an art car used for the party.

The exhibit is oriented into two distinct spaces separated by a hallway.  It allows the viewer to have some alone time to take in the photographs, some of which are pretty "in your face" and may require a second and sometimes a third look.  Among the shots in the show the most interesting for us were Nyari's work with women wearing neon clothing and makeup and Ruprecht's shots of a person disappearing into a sand storm.  Check out some of the art on display as well as some of our shots of the exhibit below.
