Good Eats: Lizarran NYC
In a not so restaurant filled part of the city (and there aren't many of those) sits Lizarran. It's in the southern tip of SoHo on Mercer St. but don't let its unlikely location deter you. The food is well prepared and the location is decor is stylish and cool. At the front of the restaurant is a bar area where you can eat Spanish style bar munchies while you drink, and in the back are tables surrounded by exposed brick walls and lit by skylight. The atmosphere with all of the brick and dark wood is like small Spanish town with a modern twist, it's quite cool.

Lizarran's food is primarily tapas style with selected large plates. The tapas themselves are quite large. We started three dishes expecting to order more, but it ended up being more than enough. The service was solid and the food was executed well but we would have liked a bigger selection of Spanish beer. Where's the Mahou?! Anyway, all ranting aside, we recommend going at least once. Prices for the tapas are between $6 and $15 and the beers are $7. Their winelist is an index of various Spanish varieties and to top it off the location is convenient for some good food after some serious SoHo shopping.
