Sneak Peek: Nike Dunk High SB 'Statue of Liberty'
In recent memory, Nike Skateboarding has somewhat fallen off the map with their unoriginal, uninspired ideas. It has been months since there has been a shoe worth reviewing or even picking up. Hopefully this shoe will mark a turnaround for Nike SB. The Dunk High 'Statue of Liberty' is quite simple, yet has some elements which we have not been seen before on an SB Dunk.

The first thing that I was attracted to was the simple seagrass colorway throughout the upper as well as the sole. The leather upper is offset by lighter green laces, tongue, and midsole which makes this a very simple yet eye-catching shoe. The Statue of Liberty's head on the tongue and insole is a nice touch that adds to the theme of the shoe.
Now for the Statue of Liberty inspiration- while the upper may appear to be basic green leather, there is a trick to them. As the shoes are worn, the green will turn into copper, the reverse of the oxidization that occurred the real Statue of Liberty. This is one of the first times we have seen an oxidization type effect done on sneaker leather. Hopefully this will inspire more creativity from Nike.
