Northern Oddities Pop-Up Shop Party Tonight @ Ivana Helsinki
Some of the coolest fashion designers we've come across aren't formally trained designers, they come from other backgrounds like architecture and art and bring their skills into the fashion world. Paola Suhonen is one of those designers and her brand Ivana Helsinki has a great retail space in Soho.
The Ivana Helsinki boutique is a long and modern space. The floors and walls are primarily white, letting the colorful clothing do the talking for the shop. And they really do talk, fine fabrics and sleek silhouettes are everywhere which comes as no surprise since Paola is the only Scandinavian designer to be a part of Paris Fashion Week's "IN" show calendar. To add to the fun, among the beautiful prints and Nordic made knits that make up the Ivana Helsinki Fall/ Winter 2012 collection, you can now find a pop-up shop made up of 6 other Finnish brands.
From jewelry to paper goods, the Northern Oddities pop-up rounds out the Ivana Helsinki product offering, taking it from clothing and shoes to an opportunity to get a look at some up and coming designers you'd have a very hard time finding here in The States. The official opening party for Northern Oddities is tonight from 7 to 10 with drinks, live music, and some Christmas cheer. Make sure you stop by if you're in the area.
