EU x Isabell de Hillerin: Saving a Disappearing Art Form thorugh Fashion
We consider ourselves pretty international over here at SOLIFESTYLE, but when we heard about this fashion label supporting Moldavian artists, we had to consult our good friend google maps. Sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, this small, impoverished country produces some of the most beautiful, unique textiles we've ever seen.
Recognizing this amazing handmade tradition, which is in danger of becoming extinct, the Europeon Union supported Isabell de Hillerin's latest S/S 13 collection titled "Eclectic Line" which incorporates these rich textiles with contemporary, elegant patterns. de Hillerin worked with the craftswomen of Moldavia, who have been using the same techniques for over a hundred years, in hopes of breathing new life and interest into this creative art form. The result? Totally spectacular, in our humble opinion.
The collection was shown during Berlin Fashion Week, and can be seen in the pages of German Vogue (below). The collection will be available for purchase through various retailers in Europe, de Hillerin's webstore, and the Weltenbuerger store in LA and Venice, CA.
