Julian Rapp Solo Show Party @ 379 Broome St.
If you've been living in NYC for a while you've probably seen this robot on the streets, that's because
used to be a serious tagger until a brush with the law prompted a change in mediums from walls to canvases. Last week, Julian exhibited his work in a solo show at 379 Broome, filling the space with abstract and colorful works which featured not only his signature robot, but monsters, collages and even an abstraction of the jail where he spent the night after getting busted for graffiti.
The show, which was curated by
, filled the whole Openhouse space and the party spilled outside into the garden, with people drinking wine and beer while enjoying the colorful art. Overall our favorites from the party were Rapp's abstract faces and creatures which were playful and fun to look at, as well as the the Cope tag which was a tribute to street artist COPE2.
