Pan Asian Noodles at Kelley & Ping in Soho

Compared to the rest of Manhattan, Soho is a restaurant desert.  Aside from small places to grab a bite like Chobani, Cafe Duke or Baked by Melissa, food options are pretty limited.  So where do you go when doing some serious shopping has you left you famished and with only $20 left in your wallet?  My answer a week or two ago would be "I'm not sure," but I stopped in Kelley & Ping last week and it definitely has the potential to be one of my go-to food spots in the area.

Located just below Houston at 127 Greene Street, Kelley & Ping Noodle Shop is surprisingly spacious and inexpensive considering its neighbors.  Inside, there is a large skylight to keep the space bright and a wall of (somewhat creepy) Chinese masks to add some color.  The food is, as the name suggests, noodles and dishes from various Asian countries of origin like Thailand, Korea and Vietnam.  Sometimes when restaurants try to specialize in so many different cuisine styles, the result is bland but K&P's food is tasty and well seasoned.

 Main courses average about $14 and are big enough that you don't need to order more.  If you're in the area, Kelley & Ping is definitely worth stopping in.
