Demo's Missoni David Statue Arrives in Manhattan's Meatpacking District
It's hard to miss the more than 15 foot tall rendition of Michelangelo's David which has appeared in the main intersection of Ninth Avenue and 14th Street in the Meatpacking District. The giant statue was created by Spanish artist Demo and designer Luca Missoni and has been plopped down for all to puzzle over (Missoni didn't care to leave a sign about the work) until September, 2012.
Would Michelangelo want his masterpiece to be clothed? Probably not. But at least he's wearing a stylish multi-colored zig zag pattern. I think David looks nice and cozy in his new getup, not that he needs it in this heat. Make sure to check it our for yourselves if you're in the area, if not, check out our photos of the Missoni x Demo David statue below. The work was previously clothed in a different color way and shown in Madrid, Spain for Fashion's Night Out.
