Dover Street Market New York City Announced!

Dover Street Market is fashion heaven.  The retailer was created by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons and only stocks the absolute pinnacle of contemporary fashion from Japanese brands like Mastermind Japan to American designers like Adam Kimmel.  DSM has been open for a long time now in London and earlier this year in Ginza, Tokyo leaving us in the United States in the lurch... until now.

In an article published today in the New York Times, Kawakubo and her husband, Adrian Joffe, spoke of location scouting for the ultra high-end department store here in Manhattan.  They want the location for Dover Street Market New York to be off the beaten path just like with the original NYC Comme des Garcons store.  I don't think they'll have a problem attracting shoppers when the store finally does open.  Because they are just location scouting now, my best guess would be mid 2013 to early 2014 opening date.  Excited about DSM New York? We sure as hell are! Hopefully that brings some of their super special collaborations like the Mastermind x Dover Street Market capsule collection right to our door step!
