Barneys x DESTE Foundation Artist Display Windows
New York City coined the idea of window shopping with stores that go way out of their way to create dramatic and creative displays with their merchandise to entice passersby. The displays at the city's largest luxury department stores (Saks, Barneys, Bergdorf and Bloomingdales) are part of the reason shopping can be so much fun, even if you don't end up buying anything.
The best windows usually pop up just in time for the holidays in December, but that's not always the case. If you drop by the Barneys flagship location on Madison Avenue right now (and until July 15th) you'll be able to see a special collaboration between the world famous retailer, the Athens, Greece based DESTE Contemporary Art Foundation and five famous artists including Helmut Lang and Juergen Teller.
The artists have worked with Barneys and DESTE to put together some beautiful site specific art installations as part of the destefashioncollection that captures the link between art, fashion, and our greater society. Make sure to head to Barneys at 660 Madison Avenue (between 60th and 61st Streets) to see for yourself. If you're not in NYC then we hope you enjoy the great snaps courtesy of photographer Tom Sibley.
